My cats had his tail amputated

It was a high amputation so nothing of the tail remains .

My sweet, loving , placid, cuddly , affectionate boy is terrified of me and I can't bear looking at the stump .

@Mooncats that’s brilliant news, so good that he’s feeling bouncier and happier! If he’s anything like my cat, it will take him about 24 hours to forget he ever had a tail at all.

Eventually he’ll be perfectly used to it and just think of all the time he saves grooming. Can we see a pic of the wee fella?

My boy had his amputated when he was less than 2 years old after a accident, I was worried sick but he recovered very quickly and was back to his normal self after a week. He still hunts and jumps the fence and still sees off the neighbours cars. He’s now ten years old 🙂

Our cat had her tail amputated (tumour) and was fine but the stump was a bit alarming at first until the fur grew back. She was fine.

My daddy’s late cat (who had a very difficult life until he adopted her) had to have her tail amputated before she went to live with him, & she was utterly unbothered by its absence.

I hope your (adorable!) wee man heals up well & quickly.

(She was about 20 when these were taken - by vet estimate.)
