Flea treatment for new rescue

We have had our 5yr old boy for a week now and his 'privinox large cat' flea treatment is due on 28th so I was looking to buy it online tonight and I can only find it on prescription.

He is not registered with a vet yet, will I need to get him seen by a vet to get a prescription?

Our local vet is not taking on new registrations at the moment so we will have to go a bit further afield and our boy really hated the carrier so I don't really want to have to take him just to get a prescription unless really necessary.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If its prescription only then yes you'd need to take him to vet as they would check him over and weigh him before prescribing anything

@dementedpixie thank you. I thought that might be the case so will call a few vets today and see why they suggest.

If I can't get him seen by next week do you think I could use a shop bought treatment until I can get him registered - sorry for the questions I just want to make sure he is ok.

I use advantage on mine.

@Fluffycloudland77 I'll have a look thank you. I was worried I had to use the same stuff he had had before

Use advantage (available a lot of places) or advocate (vet only here or from Australia without a prescription).
