I'm picking up this gorgeous girl next weekend and I'm so excited. We've been on the waiting list for over a year now.

Can I have some recommendations for great scratching posts please? She's 9 months old and only ever been kept as an indoor cat so need to help her stay entertained, although my 2 children are beyond excited to play with her. Also, she's been on Whiskas kitten and James Wellbeloved kitten biscuits, are these ok?

My last cat was pts about 5 years ago and so I feel a little rusty!

Oooh, what a glorious, vivid coat she has and such a pretty face!

Definitely keep her on the food she is used to until she is well settled - if you later want to change brand, mix in the new brand in gradually increasing proportions. One of mine started on James W. kitten biscuits and he was fine.

No advice on scratching poles - mine have always disdained them in favour of the furniture Grin

That’s one pretty cat! What an lovely coat. Hope she is very happy in her new home!

Edieunion · 14/09/2021 17:43

I know, she just looks adorable. I had a tortie when I was a child and she was a feisty so and so Grin

Haha, I'm fully expecting our currently cat free home to get trashed Shock

Ohhh she's beautiful!!!

No advice on the scratch post, other than perhaps don't spend much. Mine have always preferred the carpet/furniture/curtainsHmm

IglesiasPiggle · 14/09/2021 18:09

She's stunning! I'd recommend a good cat tree. Mine have always adored theirs but completely ignored the lovely beds that I bought them.

iklboo · 14/09/2021 18:15

Ooh she's gorgeous. We have a corner scratch post that our two really like as it's more sturdy than a stand alone one so they can get a good grip on it.

I've been looking at wall mounted ones and the corner ones look great, thank you!

I certainly won't be buying beds, I've got lots of fleece blankets and cardboard boxes so I'm sure she'll be happy enough with those

@IglesiasPiggle what cat tree do you have please?

She’s so pretty!

We have a cat tree from petsathome and it’s pretty good.

Edieunion · 14/09/2021 18:26

@AmandaHugenkiss I'll be going there on Saturday, which one do you have please?

It’s called the Columbus. It’s massive though, about 6 foot, so make sure you have lots of room for it in a corner! 😁

Elieza · 14/09/2021 18:39

She’s gorgeous Grin

crimsonlake · 14/09/2021 18:56

Calico cats are clever and lucky cats, however if anything like mine...just crazy.

thecatneuterer · 14/09/2021 19:16

This post is the best scratch post ever. It lasts much longer than other posts and you don't get the stringy bits coming off it, and as the base is hard you don't get a grotty looking carpet base. And it's size and sturdiness makes all cats seem to love it.

bringonyourwreckingball · 14/09/2021 19:24

Mine utterly disdained the (several) scratching posts and cat trees and instead destroyed a wicker chair I keep in the bedroom. She’s super cute though so she gets away with it. Might be worth investing in a cheap wicker basket?

OrcharD14 · 16/09/2021 00:27

@thecatneuterer I bought the same scratching post for my cat & it’s great - the previous ones weren’t sturdy enough & she could pull them over, despite only weighing just over 4kgs!!

sweetkitty · 19/09/2021 19:04

Oh she’s lovely, I do love calicos

overnightangel · 22/09/2021 19:33

She’s beautiful 😻
