Cats don't have Christian names because they all work for the devil. (Even the minister's cat)

I’m godmother to a doll (courtesy of the Homily-replacement at a Children’s Mass many moons ago) but I’m reasonably sure one cannot baptise a cat. And that you’d deserve all you got for trying.

Betty and Zena own an Archbishop. They say they are definitely not devil cats!

I did try and persuade him to rename them with suitable names. Like Episcopus or jezabel . But he kept their original names.

I do give all my cats middle names, and the dogs too
Middle names for dogs have been: Badgirl, ninnymuggins, bossyboots, preciouspie
Cat middlenames: Baby, kitten, orange, daVinci, queen of all cats.

Now I think of it, the talk I “went” to in June (it was done over Zoom) about Clerical Cats in History didn’t mention baptising cats at any point. Cannot imagine Pangur Bán submitting to such treatment, for all he was a medieval monastic cat. Of course, perhaps [an attempt at] feline baptism is what’s behind the state of this C15 manuscript. Not so much a curious cat - as posited by the researchers - but one bent on revenge…

We have "Big Cat" - Christian name is Ivy or usually Ivy Bear

There there is "Kitten" - Christian name is Betsy or usually Betsy Boo. She also answers to squirrel (huge fluffy tail)

Our kittens are called monkeys and they responded to this when I call them which gets funny looks from the neighbours
