Missing cat

After all I said in the other thread... Boycat my seventeen year old has not come home.
I have been out in the rain and the utter darkness here ..no street lighting- yelling his name.
NB no real traffic out here..

Need to sleep but with one ear open.

Praying he does not decide to go off and die alone.. Praying he is safe.

Hi, OP.

At 17 years old, it's likely that your dearest cat has indeed decided to follow his instinct and take himself off to go for the big sleep.

If so, he won't have gone too far, so it's with putting some posters locally on telegraph polls and flyers through doors.

I've been through it myself Flowers You want to know what happened, I know.

Cats don't go off to die. Their instinct is to hide from predators when they're weak and vulnerable. If he's doing that then he's probably hiding very close to home, as he won't be able to go far if he's feeling poorly. Has he been showing any signs of illness? I hope you find him Flowers

I wouldn't give up on him too soon, he might have just found somewhere dry to avoid the rain. Hope he's ok and returns soon. Flowers
Having said that, one of our previous cats went out to die. We found him in a garden about 10 doors down curled up by the river as if he was sleeping. It was a good way for him to go.

@SoloISland

Any sign yet?

Thank you all and HE IS BACK.

Rolled up soaking wet and starving

What has happened I now understand is that the advent of the two island strays has totally upset the happy balance we had over the years.
Dominic is taking over as head cat. Lying in wait and jumping on my gentle older cats and terrifying my younger street rescues.

So they are going awol. Strike action.

Sitting abed with not a cat with me.. Unheard of a few weeks ago.
Also the weather is mild and dry.

I have been so unsettled worried. But yesterday and today a new routine is emerging. And today all my usual cats have trickled in and out, been copiously fed and spent cuddle time with me abed then off and out again.

Selkie, the part oriental, finally came in today and we had a lovely snuggle. Missing over forty eight hours.. But food always does it. And that they are loved.

We are so few out here and no one else cares about cats. No lampposts either.. lol...

When Boycat rolled in.... lol... Shaking my head.. Then he went off for another day. All purry and devoted he was. Big old softie.

And they will slowly adapt and accept and when the weather changes...

Blessings and thanks for caring; very tired and unwell tonight so closing down

Very pleased for you. Bloody cats, they do keep us on our toes...

SoloISland · 15/09/2021 08:40

Anyone want a seventeen year old with wanderlust? He was off again as soon as he had eaten... which was a couple of days before I messaged here,

I sent out local appeals... as soon as I had emailed them? YOWLS outside and yep.. There he was. scrapping with the self appointed doorkeeper.

Different this time. Not very hungry which after seventy two hours? This cat is a foodaholic,,,
Now lying on my hand purring. But he was very unsettled.

Needless to ay after googling senility etc online in cats? he was not allowed out and I think he just became a house cat. He fits the senile ideas.

My nerves are shot.. lol... Oh hi coat feels rough too.

We have old men neighbours so it may be he is scrounging. He has a history of that. he once was missing a week - not here and when a neighbour plumbing in the washing machine mentioned they had taken in a cat... Yep; I spoke to my then landlord and he chatted with hm as in the man said his mistake was feeding him.. That is BOYCAT...
Late that night I was woken by a car; dead end road, Door slammed off went the car, opened the front door and in came Boycat..

So little mancat.. End of liberty.. lol..

Boycat will be renamed Bratcat. I leave it to your imagination.. I know I have some catnip somewhere.. But I thought he was dead.. he can do whatever he likes now, except go outside,, On my shoulder purring,,

And after a few plaintive yowls of LET ME OUT, he capitulated. And then he realised he was going to be allowed to sleep in my bed. Where he is now of course. Under the covers.

Happy cat. Finally. So he is now like me officially retired from active duty

Delighted he caved in so fast... lol...
