I might be getting a kitten and I’ve forgotten everything

I have a home check to hopefully adopt a 12 week old kitten this weekend.
I’ve had five cats previously but I feel like I’ve forgotten everything!
Im arranging beds/litter trays/ toys etc but anyone got any handy hints for the next few months, eg introducing to outside, keeping safe in the house whilst we’re out for w few hours.
Once we’re approved I’ll post a picture of the little furball Smile

We just got two, 17 years after last having kittens. They're much madder than I remembered Grin

We've got a dog crate/cage in the lounge with bed, food, letter water etc, so we can contain our kitten overnight, we also have another cat who hasn't taken to the kitten yet, so it keeps them separate.

They have mad crazy energy and run fast, then zonk out.

Initially we kept kitten in the lounge, but he now has run of house, except utility room, which is where other cat has litter box and food. He's a bit of a greedy boy already.

They have very sharp claws and teeth!

I was thinking about a crate just to give them the whole this is your safe space thing! We’re going to have to corral a little bit as at the moment we have no power in the garden so if we want to work out there we’ll need to keep kitty in the lounge so we can run power out the window!!

It certainly gave us peace of mind, especially initially when I wanted to know where he was.
As he gets bigger, he has less places to hide!

Oh and cardboard boxes, seeing as kitten will probably ignore the lovely cosy cat bed!

HappyPie82 · 11/09/2021 21:52

He’s home, very lively and very cute. Still nameless as I’m not sure what fits.
Good news is he seems well litter trained. Bad news is his fosterer seems to have let him on counter tops so need to training that out of him!

He looks very stern! 🤣

He looks like he's giving you a serious talking to.

"Now, about feeding times...."

I like Cato

We’ve gone with Elvis.
Had a good first night he’s ignoring his bed and went for the sofa but also enjoyed some midnight cuddles when the other half got home from his night out!!
