Come home DCat

DCat has gone missing. Went out early this morning and not seen since which is very unusual. Have been searching the neighbourhood all day. I adore him and I'm so very worried.

He is the first cat that I have had as an adult and I waited for such a long time to get him until I lived somewhere safe for cats and had the right set up.

He is just over 1 year old and the soppiest chattiest little thing. Just want him to come home.

Neutered, chipped, wears a collar. Have sent his picture to local WhatsApp and FB groups. My neighbours are keeping an eye out for him.

Sad

Hopefully he will come home. My ninja cat gang can all go out for best part of 14 hours ... on their occasional adventures ... except my lazy cat who flops on the decking as his "outside time" Grin

You've done everything you can

Thank you @WeBuiltThisCityOnSausageRolls . Going to put his litter tray outside overnight. Ugh.

I wouldn't be worried if one went out at 8am and still wasn't home. What time does he Normally have tea?

SpindleWhorl · 06/09/2021 18:57

Local posters on telegraph poles really do help. You'll need to put your mobile number up there though.

reallyworriedjobhunter · 06/09/2021 19:07

He went out at 4.30am but he usually comes home to have small meals throughout the day. He checks in with us and then sleeps or washes or plays then heads off again. He has never been out for this long before without saying hello to us or having some food.

@SpindleWhorl Will do this tomorrow.

Can you try Nextdoor? It’s an app.. The app for neighborhoods.. maybe someone on there has posted something.

SpindleWhorl · 06/09/2021 19:24

Good luck Flowers

reallyworriedjobhunter · 06/09/2021 19:49

That's a great idea! Cats have a super sense of smell for their own pee! Grin

I have 3 cats, had 4 until my beloved old boy died last year.

I think flyers and knocking on neighbours houses to ask them to check sheds abs garages tomorrow if he's not home will be in order . Do you have a whistle call you use for food? I do for mine..., they hear it streets away on account of bat-cat ears....

reallyworriedjobhunter · 06/09/2021 20:10

We call him and he usually comes. DH and a few kind neighbours are out looking for him.

Good luck OP. My D Elderly Cat sometimes hides and listens to me calling (usually in next door's garden- her territory is quite narrow now). I imagine her sniggering Mutley-like while doing so. I hope you find him

iloverunningslow · 06/09/2021 21:31

It was a nice day today so people will have opened sheds, garages etc. I lost my cat and never got her back. If I had it to do over, I wouldn't have asked neighbours to check their outbuildings in case they didn't bother or my cat wouldn't come out for them, especially if she was hurt. I wish I had asked them to allow me to check their outbuildings instead. Also have a really really good search in bushes, under decking etc in case he's hurt and scared to come out.

reallyworriedjobhunter · 06/09/2021 21:37

He's home!

Walked in very casually and was totally bemused by the welcome he got.

No sign of where he might have been. Not dusty or muddy or cobwebby which is how he often comes home from his patrols.

Had two dinners in a row and now snuggled up with me and the two eldest DC listening to Order of the Phoenix and chatting about the first day at school. Everything is back to how it should be.

Why oh why did I get a cat. I forgot how easily they totally steal your heart. Now it doesn't feel like home without him.

Aaah so pleased for you OP!

I was about to say don't ever give up hope, my daft boy went missing a couple of summers ago and after several weeks of my scouring the neighbourhood in the dark and making myself sadder and sadder I gave up. After NINE weeks he strolled home like nothing had happened Hmm

Motorina · 07/09/2021 07:52

Just reading this. Sooooo pleased he’s back.

SpindleWhorl · 07/09/2021 07:56

Don't forget to update your WhatsApp and FB groups - people like to know about a happy ending. Makes it worth it if they 'kept an eye out', and they're more likely to do it again for you and others.

Losing your cat is just awful. Glad your cat came home from his adventure. Smile

Want2beme · 07/09/2021 10:36

So glad he's home with you. Little so & soGrin

reallyworriedjobhunter · 07/09/2021 18:17

He knows he has caused a fuss as he hasn't left the garden all day today.

Bloody cat that I love so much.
