Indoor cat breed help

We sadly lost our cat almost 2 years ago & are now starting to think about getting another. Since then we have moved house, our garden is small & we live on a busy road so we are thinking of keeping them predominantly indoors (although they will have access to the garden & we are looking at making it a safe, escape free area). We also now have a DC so would like one that is family friendly and can handle being around children. Can anyone recommend a happy to be indoors, family friendly breed?

@swampytiggaa they're beautiful 😻

Thank you @Wolfiefan & @user1471548941 I have been looking at the local cats protection site. It's so sad to see so many looking for their forever homes.

@TheGrassIsGreenerish what outside space protection do you have? Is it the fencing?

No fencing as our yard is too big (not in UK). Instead he has this purpose built cat run, it has a high shelf and a clear covered roof. We also leave the kitty litter there too, so no smell in the house. He gets into it via a cat flap on the window. He does go out on a lead too, which did take him a while to get used to as he didn’t like the feel of it around him but he’s been brainwashed from a young age to be an indoor cat, so he’s happy with that and outside his cat run on a lead is sometimes a bit scarey for him, the cat run and inside is his safe space.

Worth contacting rescues to ask about indoor and suitable with younger kids. They can match you with the right cat.

That looks great @TheGrassIsGreenerish

@Wolfiefan We won't be getting one for a few months but I'll be putting our interest forward to them shortly.
