Cats keep missing trays

Our cats keep missing the trays when they pee/going outside the trays. We've got two open ones and two covered ones and it seems to happen with both types. Anything I can do or are they just stupid?

We have the same problem, cat sits in the litter and poos over the edge 🙄 . A bigger tray might help.

Our cat recently got a new tray and was peeing outside it because her bum stuck out the door. I bought the biggest covered tray I could find and she fits inside it. A larger tray is the solution.

Same here! I've given up hoping she will learn to get it in the tray and put a puppy training pad under it so cleaning up is easier.

This is what ours seem to do too!! I think they think when their feet are in the litter then they are weeing in it! 🤦‍♀️

Thanks. This makes sense I'll see what I can find. The two covered ones are really big but the uncovered ones are average size so perhaps that's what we need to do.

Top loaders.
I've switched all mine with the added bonus they wipe their feet jumping out.
We still have one corner covered tray with a door but fat cat just seems to wear it as a helmet with the offending arse stuck out Hmm

I've got a huge cat tray, quite high sided. It was always fine - till recently. But she's old so we nearly forgive her!

I've bought some Asda incontinence sheet thingies to go underneath. I think they're cheaper than puppy training pads.

I've never heard of a top loader tray, what's that?

Sorry cross posted. So the litter goes in the bottom and they hang their bum over the edge?! I feel like that might be a step too far for my lot they aren't the brightest bunch (or at least two of them aren't!) 😂

No they get in Grin and wipe feets as they stand on the top getting out.

I do actually own a toilet seat litter tray but only one of mine could use it Sad
