Neutered cats

Hi can you talk to me about the expected changes in cats once they are neutered ?

I have a boy & girl, and wondered if more experienced cat owners could tell me more about what to expect with regards to changes in their behaviours, feeding. My cats where neutered 3 weeks ago and already the girl who was not a great eater has changed and is seems very hungry. She had always been very timid, and is now very keen on exploring outside.

I've honestly never noticed much difference after neutering. They change so quickly at that age I think it would be difficult to pin anything on the operation anyway.

I didn't notice any changes. I suppose Big cat stopped humping his brother.

We've got two girls. After neutering they stopped the nightly howling and bum wiggling due to hormones. They both started chubbing up - one was quite underweight so this was no bad thing!

It largely depends how old they are when they're done. If you have them done at the recommended four months then you shouldn't see any difference.

If they're already mature by the time they're done, then yes, the males should become less aggressive and territorial and will be less inclined to wander very far, and of course won't stink and spray everything. And the girls will be less distressed by the hormone surges and so be more relaxed generally.

We were warned that neutered girls can put on weight however no issues with ours as she's tiny with a tiny appetite to match. One thing we did notice was she got super affectionate. She was only 4 months so we didn't know her personality that well but it was like a switch. She cant get enough cuddles. She never was bothered sitting on you but now she loves being up around your next. Boy cat didn't changed at all.
