Litter tray with high sides and low entry for Crate Care

Poor kitty is in a crate after being hit by a car and breaking his pelvis.
After feeling battered and bruised (that's kitty not us after the £1,000 plus vet bill!) for a while, he is doing well a few weeks later.

I got him a small litter tray which is shallow (6cm) but when he uses it, the litter sprays all over and makes a great big mess. So we have to clean his crate and the room he's in several times a day.

His usual litter tray is a big covered one. It's far too big and I don't want him to lift his legs too much. I've been looking on Amazon and found a high sides lower entry tray but the step is 11.5cm.

Has anyone found a tray like that with a lower step? And/or is 11.5cm ok?

Could you put the tray you have in a box with high sides? And just cut the front bit off the box

Like this but upside down!

Oh that's a good idea. I thought of box with cut out and DH said he'd get wee on it. But of course turn it upside down!
