21 year old cat needs amputation

My 21 year old cat just got her back leg caught in the door and snapped the bone. She needs amputation, but I’m worried she won’t survive anesthesia. She is very happy despite being hurt. She is purring, has a great appetite and is drinking plenty of water etc. what should I do?

What have the vets suggested? It is something to discuss with them re outcomes/viability/anaesthetic risk. Has she had a full blood screen? I'd want that done first to ascertain how she is medically before any major surgery. Is casting the leg a possibility instead? The vets will advise you on all this, that's their job! Best of luck OP.
