Cat Refuses To Eat Kidney Prescription Food

It's been a stressful month. Cat is nearly 14 and never had any health problems until now.

Her UTI issue seemed to be resolved but I ordered some blood tests as I'm planning to move back to the UK and wanted to make sure she was fit to travel.

She's been diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease and spent 5 days on a drip getting kidneys flushed.

She refuses to eat her new diet. Even with the old dry food mixed into new she will just eat the old and leave the kidney food.

Have spent loads ordering food by DHL from the UK as I can't get it where I live. She will have a tiny bit of wet food and walk off in disgust.

Anyone had luck with a phosphorus binder? Vet advises to try that with the regular food. Not eating is worse than eating her "normal " diet.

TIA

I love the idea of her playing football: obviously am envisaging her in a wee kit & you roping someone in to referee for you Grin

It sounds as if she has a rather fabulous lifestyle really - hopefully she’ll start eating better soon & thus have more energy for her favourite things.

Lol no cat clothing would ever be allowed .... she's pretty good and it's fun to watch her. She gets a bit annoyed if I try to join in.

Yes, I live in hope there's a wet food out there she likes.

Did she ever have dry food? I just ended up cutting out all dry for including Dreamies and staying on wet food. Prescription food was not an optionHmm I also feed raw for about 4 meals a week. Works well and hasn't been ill again ,touch wood.

Yes she likes dry food, even the renal stuff is acceptable. I'm vegan so probably won't give her raw as I hate touching meat. She generally eats fish flavour . She hates turkey, chicken, beef, lamb etc.
