What is this on our kittens mouth/chin? This is the best photo I could get, she's a little wrigglebutt.

I'm a vet but can't tell from those photos. Is there a lump? Maybe you can get a better photo when she is asleep?

MotionActivatedDog · 17/08/2021 21:56

Has she bumped on something and it’s taken the fur off?

Eeiliethya · 17/08/2021 21:58

Is it a bit swollen?

My best guess is flea allergy dermatitis, my cat gets it and I have to be shit hot on applying her flea treatment on time. She's had a similar fat lip which was diagnosed by a vet.

Could be an allergic reaction to something else.

Keep an eye on, if in doubt or gets worse take her to the vet as I'm sure you would anyway Smile

It's just come up today. She's been playing in the garden all day. I was wondering if she'd grazed it or been stung by anything but can't see a graze or visible sting or bite.
Yes it's swollen, it's on her chin (I think) but looks like she's got actual lips.

Chasing bees and tried to eat one? (Wild guessing)

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 17/08/2021 23:03

Our cat had that and can’t remember what it was that caused it now but the vet gave us some cream and it didn’t come back.

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 17/08/2021 23:04

I think we possibly thought she had eaten a spider

househuntinginthesouth · 17/08/2021 23:30

@soddingkitten it wouldn't be the first time she had tried catching a bee

@PammieDooveOrangeJoof glad your cat is okay now. why/how would a spider cause that?

@househuntinginthesouth did you get to the bottom of what was up with your cat's mouth? My kitten has something similar going on, not a clue why, it isn't bothering her, but was wondering if a trip to the vet is in order.

LunaTheTuna · 19/08/2021 16:06

Here she is.

@LunaTheTuna sorry only just seen this. Aww she looks lovely. We didn't find out what it was, it looked much better very quickly. Saw the vet about a week later and there was nothing to show, he didn't seem to concerned by the photo as I asked anyway out of curiosity. Did you find out?

@househuntinginthesouth no worries Smile
I didn't find out, it got better on its own. I wonder if she got stung. Glad your kitten is all better.

My old cat used to get the occasional granuloma on his lower lip area. It just came and went of his own accord. He had some food intolerances so could have been that which triggered it.
