Adopting a cat

I’m looking at adopting a cat - what can I expect from the interviews etc? I’ve prepped the house and bought everything I think it’ll need but I don’t have a cat flap. Is this a necessary expense right now? I will get one in the future.

We adopted a cat from Cat's Protection a few months ago. When we found a cat on their website we thought would fit into our family I filled in an application form online.
The telephone call after was just really going over the form.
They wanted to know why we'd picked that cat, who lived and visited here, what sort of household it was, asked about any other pets and looked our house up on google maps to check we didn't live near a busy main road as she's an outdoor cat.
There was no requirement for a cat flap as I'm working from home and there's nearly always one of us home to let her in and out.
They also asked what we would do with her if we went away.
Good luck with it.

Thank you very much for your reply! Doesn’t sound too arduous then.

How are you getting on with your cat? They settle ok?

She settled in really well and so quickly. I hear stories of how some hide for days at first but ours was out exploring the house straight away.
She's very quickly become the centre of attention in our house. She's really inquisitive, energetic at times and likes to be near her humans wherever we are in the house. She's not a lap cat yet but will sleep close by. She's only just one so I'm hoping she might mellow a bit when she gets older.
