Can anyone recommend a good climbing toy/ scratching post / sleeping platform .

I want something that has a heavy base as my daft cat tends to throw himself at things when he is playing.

It can be quite big , around 2.5 foot wide and a foot deep and as tall as it is safe to be he lives been high up

I want at least one tall scratching posts and one or two platforms

Can anyone recommend one .

As I know it is mandatory I have included a photo of him and his current favourite sleeping place whilst I'm trying to decorate

My 2 cats share this. amazon.co.uk/dp/B087723W3Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_AGVYCYFF0JZB0QSM4VE3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1]]
It's very solid. They jump all over it.

Mumdiva99 · 07/08/2021 01:47

OK.....that doesn't work....

I have been very impressed by things from this seller:

www.etsy.com/uk/shop/weselldream?ref=profile_header

I have three of their platforms and a scratching post, and have ordered another. Really well made and super sturdy.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/08/2021 09:15

Mine have some steps from Kalven. It's solid wood. And has lasted really well.

I'm also looking for a really sturdy cat tree, Cat 2 is 10lbs and big, I need something that would support his ungainly jumping attempts

AlCalavicci · 07/08/2021 11:39

@Motorina
I really like the look of some of their things
Unfoutnaly they won't work for me , I need something free standing as the only wall it could go on is just plaster board.

@Toddlerteaplease
I like quite a few of them , but for the size I want circa £250 Is just a bit out of my price range Shock

I've got one of the Catit Vesper cat tree things, it is extremely sturdy and a bit more stylish than the furry ones.

(Stock photo, they do a taller one too)

@AlCalavicci Turkish Angora and he weighs a tonne!

GreenCat44 · 07/08/2021 16:53

I have this one from zooplus. Its 6ft, made of metal and very heavy and sturdy. My pair chase each other up and down it and leap across from the top of the door and it barely wobbles

One of mine’s on plasterboard without issue. I didn’t realise I shouldn’t, although I possibly didn’t read the instructions.

It comes with those plugs with sticky out bits. Sorry - I don’t know the word for them.

(Apologies, also, for the pottery vulva on my fireplace.)

Similar to Greencats above, we have this one. It's so sturdy and the trunk and branches' are covered in sisal so it doubles up as another scratch post and sometimes the cat pulls herself up the trunk to the beds, like she's climbing a tree! www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/scratching_posts/medium/medium_cat_tree_height_140_cm/444113?mkt_source=1307934&variantid=444113.0&msclkid=6bcfcb171d0d1c89cfe4aa19cee71d6e

Thank you all for the recommendations so far , I like the look of this one

I will keep looking before I spend a fortune on something my overlord will look at once and go back to sleeping on my bed !

Wayfair have a good selection

Oldraver · 08/08/2021 09:52

I was going to get the Catit one a yes it's a bit more stylish or one of the ones with the sisal type baskets

We ended up with this

I don't know yet how sturdy it is in comparison to others but as its a corner (or you can have it straight) it seems quite stable

tortiecat · 08/08/2021 11:29

My girl has had the "Fat Boy" scratching post one for well over a year & it's very robust. Struggling to post a link but it's 70cm tall & £45.99 on Amazon currently.

tortiecat · 08/08/2021 11:31

Oh sorry, misread your OP - looks like you want an all in one job! 🙈 the one I recommended is very good though Grin
