Grade 2 heart murmur

We’ve made some enquiries about adopting a gorgeous cat, and found out today she has a grade 2 heart murmur. She’s 7 and otherwise healthy.

Are there any companies that will insure her? We’re fairly experienced cat owners but we’ve never had one before with a pre-existing condition before.

My cats cardiologist suggested brought by many. Their pre existing condition thing is only for the last 3 months. So technically I could have insured my cat as no pre existing as she is only seen every six months. They would take her on but it was no cheaper than my current insurance.
Has the cat been scanned?

Ah ok, that makes sense. I’m not actually sure - I’m going to call tomorrow and speak to them. The kitty is lovely and seems perfect as it specifically mentions she is wonderful with children (we have young DC). A quick google suggested no one would insure a cat with a heart murmur, but I thought that couldn’t be true as something else I read said they were so common!

I don't think I knew about my cats sisters murmur when I took out the insurance. But Tesco always paid up without fuss. Definitely get the best insurance you can find. If she needs cardiology any time in the future, it's expensive. The one my cats see/saw is £650 a visit.

Turned out my cats murmur was grade 4 later on, and her heart was awful. But she was completely asymptomatic with it. You'd have never known she was so ill.
