Flea and worming recommendations

I've two cats, who have been on a Pet Plan with the vet since we got them at 8 weeks, mainly as it made their jabs and spaying much cheaper.

They are indoor cats, I'm currently on a tight budget as have taken a year out to care for an elderly parent, and I'm thinking £25 a month for a couple of checkups and worm and flea treatments probably isn't necessary (will be keeping them insured ofc!)

If you just buy your worm/flea treatments as you go what do you recommend and does it work out more cost effective?

Yes it does seem a bit excessive. You still need to flea monthly, but you can get four packs of Advantage for £10 online, and you can also buy Drontal online, which should be every three months. A yearly check up is advisable - did the plan also cover vaccine boosters?
