We've been on a wee trip down south since Saturday, back tomorrow. And i can't wait to see the cats!! Ive missed them so much! I don't know if it's because I wfh so see them all day every day, plus they're such affectionate wee things so I'm missing their cuddles.
Hope they don't hate us too much when we get back! This is the longest I've left them.

Yes! We hadn’t taken a 2 week holiday in years and we went away for 2 weeks at the start of July and by day 6 we both missed them so badly. We were homesick for the cats!!

We missed the cuddles and the touch, stroking them. It’s free therapy IMO!

AnyOldLion · 27/07/2021 11:22

I do. My cat sitter sends me photos and videos. 😄

MilduraS · 27/07/2021 11:36

I do. Our cat sitter sends daily photos and I'm never sure if it makes me feel better or worse. The worst part is that when we finally get home and are desperate for a cuddle, the cats avoid us for the first hour or so because we smell weird.

Plump82 · 27/07/2021 12:14

My cat sitter doesn't send pictures and im never sure whether to check in with her incase i come across aa neurotic!! I know they're in safe hands with her though!!

My best holiday was when there was a hotel cat. It was in Palm Springs and they had left the windows open and we walked in to the room and found a snoozing cat. I was thrilled.

ThreeWitches · 27/07/2021 12:27

Loads! We just got back from three nights in London and Dkitten was left with the in-laws. When we got back, I dropped my bags immediately and rushed in for a snuggle with him 🤣

nestletoulouse · 27/07/2021 12:31

When we last went away I cried after we'd dropped her off at my parents 😅– we were only gone 5 days!

ShadowInVain · 27/07/2021 12:34

Yes, always. The last time I went away, my husband stayed at home & when I phoned I tried to speak to the cats - apparently their ears pricked up but otherwise they didn't respond.

Then when I got home they were clearly pissed off by my absence and avoided me for a day.

TheVanguardSix · 27/07/2021 12:35

I do! Hell, I miss them when they go out the back door for the night and don't come home until dawn.

Maggiesfarm · 27/07/2021 12:53

I missed them a bit but my husband missed them a lot. I remember telling him one time that I did not want to hear about our cats when our car was only about two miles into the journey :-).

WirKindervomBahnhofZoo · 27/07/2021 17:38

I'm missing my little tiger so much and it's only day 4! 😻

AlfonsoTheMango · 27/07/2021 17:59

Yes.

pippapoo62 · 27/07/2021 18:13

Went away last week for 5 days ,came back ,opened the front door to see our 4 cats sat at the top of the stairs. They must of heard the car ,all of them rushed down for cuddles ,I miss them very much when I go away . My husband managed to get a good photo on his phone so have the proof.

idril · 27/07/2021 18:26

Yes, a lot.

I would go so far as to say that it puts me off going on holiday a bit and we've never been away for more than a week.

Plump82 · 27/07/2021 19:42

I texted my cat sitter and she said theyre doing great. One of them (boy cat no doubt) managed to rip open the bag of cat biscuits so im sure he thought all his dreams came true at once.

@idril this is the longest we've been away, only 3 full days but we said we wouldn't know how to cope being away too and half joked about going seperate 2 week holidays each!

No, never!

LordFoofingtonismyMaster · 27/07/2021 19:46

We're just back from a few days away and I was willing dh to drive faster on the way home as I couldn't wait to see the cats 🙈. One came charging out of a bush the minute he heard the car and was screaming at us and full of cuddles. His brother was more aloof but has given lots of cuddles this afternoon. I really enjoyed being away for the first time in two years but I'm so happy to be home 😻😻

NotMyCat · 27/07/2021 19:54

I've only left mine once Blush I had to go into hospital and I was so worried about leaving him that I got the cats protection homing person to look after him
I came back after 36hrs and he had learned how to say "ma ma" Hmm which he then yelled at me continuously

Toddlerteaplease · 27/07/2021 19:57

Yes. My cattery usually put pictures on Facebook, but their staff have had to self isolate. So the owners have been in charge, they've got a three week old navy so I think their time is limited. One of the staff adores Magic, and apparently she's been getting the quivery tail. Which she o my does when really happy. They get it all the time, I do not!!

LubaLuca · 27/07/2021 20:06

I do, but one of mine is a naughty baby crying for food from the crack of dawn. The mewling is usually also a warning to me that she's brought me a present (an entire bird's nest dragged through the flap this morning). So I don't miss everything about them - sometimes it's nice knowing that someone else is putting up with their shit for a week or so.

Wintercoffee · 27/07/2021 20:21

Definitely miss them lots! Love winding down with them at night they’re usually in my room or purring/snoring away and it helps me get to sleep knowing they’re safe and settles! Definitely on the way home from somewhere they pop into my head and I’m excited to see them!

Boy cat wakes me up without fail at 2:30am every morning so I was looking forward to a full night sleep but its probably been the worst nights sleep I've had as its been so hot!

Yes, definitely. I hate going away and leaving them. I also know they really miss us too (we get soooo much affection when they get back!). I do actually avoid taking long breaks away for this reason.

LemonSwan · 27/07/2021 20:33

Yes, during COVID we werent allowed to leave them with their beds or toys, an unwashed tshirt etc. When I dropped him off and the lady refused to take anything I got back in the car and burst into tears. Felt like I was abandoning him.

claireb7rg · 27/07/2021 20:44

Yes, if away for a night we keep an eye on them via the cameras and we can talk to them and hear them.
If longer and in the cattery then the cattery sends us pictures / videos
