My indoor cat managed to get out of a window on Friday afternoon. He got back at 3 am today. He seems absolutely fine, happy, eating, using the litter tray etc.
When he came in I smelled something like wood preservative but his coat was clean and there were no sticky footprints.
However, he was just sitting on my lap and I noticed something brown on one of his back feet. It doesn’t smell at all and I can’t get any of it off.it is a very small area and he is showing no interest in it but he won’t let me try to get it off..
How dangerous could it be? Taking him to the vet is a nightmare as he gets very stressed (he has a heart complaint). Is it safe to leave it as he isn’t trying to wash his feet . Advice please.

I don't know the answer. Without knowing what it is it's hard to say. Why don't you phone the vets for advice in the morning.

I’d wash it off with a damp microfibre cloth.

Thank you.
I will ring the vet but I doubt they will be able to help without seeing it. It won’t come off with a cloth or with wipes and he is getting cross if I spoil his petting by focussing on his foot!
