Help needed re grooming

We have a long hair moggy and she is great at grooming herself but really does need to be brushed. She gets the occasional mat particularly at this time of year and when leaves or seeds get stuck in her coat. The problem is we can only get about 4 brush strokes in before she shreds us. I don't know if a more gentle brush or comb would help? Or send her to a groomer? If a groomer would even accept her? If anyone has any advice I would be extremely grateful.

Hi,

What sort of brush are you using on her?
I'm a groomer, so any questions I can help with I'd be happy.
And yes a groomer would take her (I would) but will probably ask on background (whether she's been groomed professionally before, breed, health issues, etc).

Definitely send her to a groomer. My friend has a short haired cat with a very think coat, that she won't allow to be brushed. Bit she's an absolute Angel at the groomers! My long haired Persian has a maintenance groom every few months to keep her looking food. It costs more than my hair cuts!
