Hello,

Having a bit of a nightmare at the moment with fleas in the house. They've suddenly appeared with the hot weather and it's been the most horrible experience trying to cope with crazy temperatures plus itching and paranoia! We've repeatedly treated different rooms and not managed to completely eradicate them yet so I'm wondering if we need to use a professional service. Also things like sofa cushions, duvets, my son's cuddly toys - how do we thoroughly decontaminate them? Sad

I assume you have a cat?
What are you treating them with?
Indorex is supposed to be good for treating the house

Yes, as above. What are you treating the cats with? And you need Indorex or Acclaim for the house.

what are you treating cat with Frontline failed for us a few yrs ago but Advocat still good. I don't find I have to respray house with Indorex more than every 6 yrs, but floor cleaning helps removes larvae, eggs, adults and larvae food.

Aspiringmatriarch · 24/07/2021 17:15

Yes, two cats - sorry, I should have said that! We use Advocat and we've been doing it as regularly as we're meant to but it obviously hasn't been effective. I'm currently washing everything in the house obsessively. Think we might get someone in to spray everything once it's all been thoroughly cleaned and decluttered. I feel quite disgusted at the state of the house now I'm looking in all the corners etc. I guess this is teaching me a lesson about being more houseproud, I just find it difficult because it's a small house with far too much stuff in it so it's hard to do a proper deep clean.

By everything I mean coats in the hallway, bedding including duvets and pillows, and basically every item of clothing in the house just in case. The cats sometimes sleep in the bottom of the wardrobe in our bedroom so I'm paranoid about eggs/fleas in thereEnvy. Not sure if I'm going over the top but I've never dealt with this before and I'm finding it a bit traumatic, definitely don't want them lying low and coming back again!!

I got a kitten 4 weeks ago he was bloated so started treating him with wormers. Then noticed fleas last weekend. I have put front line spot on on him and my older cat. He went for injections on Monday at the time he had a watery eye. Ended up back at vets yesterday because there was green stuff around his eye and the vet checked his ears and he now has mites in his ears.
I am combing the cats everyday and spoke to the vet at pets at home and she said front line works by overworking the fleas but we need to do the house. I have always used Indorex but have to order it online.
My poor older cat looks fed up she's got flea off this little irritating thing what likes to chase her around and she has to be combed but she's a British shorthair and her fur is really think. Till my house spray arrives I am going to have a good hoover every day Especially where they sleep.

I am not getting bitten yet so hopefully it's not to bad yet.
Hate fleas

We have had fleas in the past and we spent so much money on making sure they were gone and not coming back. To a few months down the line paternal grandparents have flea infestation and are doing the bare minimum to sort it out. The fleas are back in my home after spending so much time and effort clearing the whole house, and DS is covered in bites again which look so awful. Any advice on what I can do in this situation, myself and dd father are separated. It’s so not fair on him to be covered like this and them make no effort at all. Just to add they are definitely aware but father still puts DS in that situation
