I was out for a walk with two boys yesterday, aged 4and 6. We found a sunbathing cat and spent a happy five minutes tickling its tummy.

As we carried in with our walk, the eldest boy asked me what the cat’s name was.

“I don’t know- I’ve never met him before” said I.

“Jeff” said the younger of the two, with great authority.

I asked their parents- they don’t know anyone named Jeff .

So my suggestion is Jeff.

Tabby McTat or Samuel Sprat (but I have a black and white cat called Jess so you can see where I get my pet name inspiration)
