Importing cat on the Calais to Dover ferry

Shortly moving back to the UK and thinking of bringing the cat with us. Don't want to use Eurotunnel.

Does anyone know what happens when you get to the ferry terminal in Calais? Do I present the cat and papers somewhere? is it obvious? I have looked and looked but can't find the mechanics of what to DO at the ferry port. Can't get through to the ferry companies either!TIA

It looks like, as you have to pay for them, the staff will be aware & they have to stay in the car on some or option for a pet friendly cabin with others. What ferry company will you be using?

I don't know about cats, but friends have taken their dog on the ferry frequently and it has to stay in the car during the crossing. (The dog now knows this and hunkers down with a sigh when they drive onto the ferry.) I would imagine it's the same for cats, but people don't normally take their cats on holiday so there might not be a rule.
