How long in the cat carrier?

Hi all,

I am going away today and have to drop my cats at the cattery at 10 (normally we have a car sitter but there is building work being done).

They normally disappear outside all day so do you think it would be ok for me to put them on their carriers now while I have them? It would an them waiting in there for 3 hrs. The cattery is a 5 min drive

I'm an experienced cat owner. 3 hours is too long and the cat may need its litter tray in that time. Can't you keep the cat in a room?
