Six weeks ago our cat escaped from a cattery... fast forward six weeks of heartbreak and searching and we brought him home on Tuesday! There has been much rejoicing! We knew roughly where he was living (in a field and some woodland near the cattery) and caught him with a humane food trap. We are so happy to have him home and he is so happy to be home - he has hardly stopped purring. He has lost 1kg but otherwise is fine (took him to the vet to check him over). He has been sleeping a lot (see photo!) but I suppose he wouldn't have been sleeping or relaxed at all while he was living wild.
My question is what should we be doing now? We have had some advice to keep him in for a couple of weeks as if we were moving house. Is this the right thing to do? He wants to go out - I don't think I am ready to let him out yet after all the heartbreak over the last 6 weeks but don't want to cause him any more harm if the best thing is to let him out.
What do you think, wise mumsnetters?
