Found a new way to cat litter

So browsing through YouTube and I came across a video and gave it a try.
Basically you use a sifting litter tray in reverse so instead of using a clumping litter which makes the small clean grains fall through and get used again. You use a wood chip litter and throw away the dust that falls through.
I've used wood chip litter before and soon as there's a wee the wet bit turns to sawdust so I'd have to change the whole tray fairly frequently when it became too dusty.
This way the litter lasts way longer and smells decent too as I only have to sift and top up so wastes a lot less.
I've tried all sorts of litters but this ones a game changer!
Also you only really need one sifting tray as you can use the sifter bit for multiple litter trays, just need to make sure the litter is large enough to stay above the sifter.

I use wood litter and sift it using a slotted poop scoop each day. Sift away the dust and keep the pellets.

I’ve got double decker cat trays using the litter and agree it’s much better than the alternatives.
Wood dust falls into a drawer and you can compost it (I don’t but you could) and then just scoop out poo from the top part. Doesn’t really track and doesn’t smell either.

The cats don’t like it as much tho because you can’t dig so much

I think there must be multiple threads as I answered on the other one

OH put a couple of battens of wood in a garden seive so I could put it over the wheelie bin

Viola empty the tray into the seive, dust falls through, you reuse the pellets
