Grooming

I have my first long hair cat. She loves being outside. She's a blooming tramp - out in the grass, under bushes, gets absolutely filthy.

I tried to get her used to brushes and combs from a kitten - she's about 9 months now - but she doesn't like being groomed.

This double whammy means she now has grass seeds in the hearts of matts particularly around her fluffy under back thighs.

I don't know what to do. Should I carry on trying to get surreptitious brushing and combing done while cuddling her? I don't want to make her reluctant to be on my lap. So do I eg put her on the table and formally groom and cut the pretty big and growing matts away? Or do I get a friend to hold her while I cut away the matts?

She's a rag doll, hugely loving, and I don't want to change her lovely trusting nature. But I definitely need to do something because she's turning into a walking grass seed. Please help!!

What are you using to groom her?

My boys hated the furminator and all other brushes I tried.
Then I found these magical gloves.
It's literally like you're stroking them but the fur sticks to the rubber side of the gloves. You wouldn't believe how much fur I get off them! Its my best cat purchase by far!

I’ve got one of those coming today. I have a rescue longhair who needs daily grooming.

They all look better after a good grooming session.

My longhair needs daily grooming too. To train him I used dreamies. The longer he stood still the more he got then I decreased the amount. Now he gets 3 or 4 at the end. He still wiggles and moves about but I mostly manage Grin

She’s gorgeous OP!

Dreamies are what I use for getting her and her "brother" (who has never given me a moments concern lol) to come in at 10.30 pm sharp for bed.

I could use them for grooming maybe.

I have every tool for grooming known to woman, from hand things to blunt ended scissors.

I am now definitely looking at the scissors
