Fur balls

One of my cats seems to be having real trouble with bringing up fur balls this summer. He's doing that distinctive cough an awful lot any advice on what I can do to help him?

You could try feeding biscuits designed to help digestion alongside any wet food. Ours has Royal Canin Digestive but there are others out there.

Mine have Royal Canin indoor food anyway, which helps with fur balls, but I sometimes give them the anti fur ball type as well. Certainly seems to work with Boycat, who has the same problem with that distinctive dry rasping coughing.

There's also a load of treats and pastes etc on the market that are designed for this. Anecdotally the Beophar seems to help?

I'm sure this is a silly question, but how often do you brush him? I brush my long-haired boy about 3 times a week and so far no hairballs. This time of year is a nightmare for shedding!

@ScottishNewbie I think that's part of the problem, he won't let me near him with brush but I've just ordered a cat grooming glove from Amazon which I might have more success with as he does like to be stroked along with some some of the fur ball paste (thanks @Allergictoironing!). If it's still a problem after trying those 2 I'll look at changing his food. Poor thing it sounds really uncomfortable.
