The cat bowl in the dishwasher thread...

Are other people particularly previous?

I put my cat bowls in the dishwasher.

I picked a cat hair out of my bacon sandwich today and didn't blink an eye. It's moulting time, and despite hoovering every other day he leaves the air afloat with cat hair every time he walks through the room.

I let him lick my face, he does it all the time.

Are other cat slaves that fussed?

I'm covered in cat hair head to toe and don't care - my boss, colleagues and friends are all animal-lovers and don't care either. My customers are all involved in animal welfare/rescue too so it's all good.

I dumped my last boyfriend after he said 'I don't really like cats' See ya!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/06/2021 19:30

He said he doesn't like cats?!!!😱

If a 70 degree cycle doesn't get rid of a bit if cat lick then we're all doomed.

The cat slept right between us last night, like he owned the bloody bed, a cat bowl is the least of our problems!

purrswhileheeats · 29/06/2021 19:36

Yes he pretended to like them! 😠 Got shown the door when he drunkenly blurted it out one evening Grin

emmetgirl · 29/06/2021 19:37

I've got 2 cats and I'm usually covered in cat hair. I'm not fussed about accidentally ingesting some without noticing. I've kept cats for years and I'm in my 50s and not dead yet 🤷‍♀️

This

The way my cats vomit, you couldn't be precious & live in the same house! Plus one of them dug so vigorously after using the litter tray that she managed to throw a large chunk of (luckily quite firm) poo about a foot away from the tray.

iklboo · 29/06/2021 19:55

One of ours sat in on a Teams meeting this morning. Didn't even take minutes or anything. Lazy sod.

ReachedTheEndofCake · 29/06/2021 19:58

Mine’s a drooler - he’s woken me up by aiming for my ears, eyes or mouth many a time. Cat hair or cat food in a dishwasher would be preferable!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 29/06/2021 20:00

I put the cat dishes in the dishwasher without a second thought!

JoanOgden · 29/06/2021 20:01

I let my cat lick my cereal bowl every morning (only after I've finished eating though, I do have some standards).

Passthecake30 · 29/06/2021 20:02

Rabbit bowls in the dishwasher here. Not the same, but they lick their bums and eat their own poo.

Kakiweewee · 29/06/2021 20:03

I'm covered in cat hair.

It's not a meal at my house without three cat hairs in your food (am fastidious about hygiene in kitchen but cat hair floats in the very air).

I'll let her lick me, although I do wash afterwards because I'm allergic. And I'll drink my water out the glass she explored.

The only thing I protest is butthole to the face because she's notorious for butt nuggets due the the butt floof, which I try to trim but she's a rescue who was poorly socialised so handling is difficult.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/06/2021 20:21

You’ve got to bear in mind the one up manship involved in housekeeping standards. It doesn’t make us better people if you wash a cat bowl up separately.

I’ve had housekeeping top trumps used against me in rl. Ok, fine, yes your house is cleaner than mine but I don’t hit people so it’s swings & roundabouts isn’t it?.

eurochick · 29/06/2021 20:25

I'm pretty fastidious about hygiene but can't see an issue with cat bowls in the dishwasher. It gets really hot, much hotter than a person could stand washing up.

OneMoreForExtra · 29/06/2021 20:30

Mine has a drop of cream from my coffee jug, either from my finger or linked off the desk, every morning while I've been WFH. She turns up fir it every day and is very put out if I've cracked early and already added the coffee. I don't always wash my hands after if I'm in a meeting and usually forget to clean the creamy cat lick desk splodge

Toddlerteaplease · 29/06/2021 22:45

My dad ticked me off for letting Cheddar lick my empty plate. (She didn't, she just sniffed it) I don't care if she licks it after I've finished eating. (It gets washed at very high temperature)

Toddlerteaplease · 29/06/2021 22:46

@purrswhileheeats good for you!!

Toddlerteaplease · 29/06/2021 22:48

Cheddar checking out my porridge last week.

My mother in law thinks that putting the cat bowls in the dishwasher is disgusting. She is also of the opinion that they shouldn't be allowed on beds. She doesn't like cats btw, so I'm making sure that I always have cats as then she won't want to come and live with us one day 😂

Cat bowls go in the dishwasher along with everything else, it's probably far more hygienic as the temperature is much hotter than it would be if they were washed by hand. Cats belong on beds too and not a day goes by without one of my two sleeping on one of the beds of the house. Working from home, I discovered what they do all day and it's pretty much all sleeping......

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 29/06/2021 23:23

Cats on beds should be law , there is nothing nicer than going to sleep listening to a purring kitty.

Kakiweewee · 29/06/2021 23:56

Cats on beds!

Yup! Bowls in the dishwasher here.
They lick the cereal spoons.
One of them drools on my face at 4am.
They go on the benches and table (although I do disinfect both before eating and they aren't allowed when we are sat at table).

The only thing that bothers me is hair in food, but unfortunately not much I can do this time of year.

Chocaholic9 · 01/07/2021 11:22

Personally I think it's really gross to do this but I'm not eating off your dishes so you do what you like

LovelaceBiggWither · 01/07/2021 11:25

It doesn't happen here even though I understand the rationale behind why some people are fine with it. I just have an ewwwwwwwwww reaction and quietly ignore the fact that DH lets the cats lick his plates which then go in the dishwasher.

Purplecatshopaholic · 01/07/2021 11:46

Meh, cat bowls wherever, I couldn’t care less. Haven’t died yet. One of cats inveigled her way into my team meeting this morning (WFH) and when she got bored, turned her furry bottom to the camera! The others just snooze on our bed - if my partner doesn’t like it he is wise enough not to say….
