Help me decide on a new sofa...

My cat has scratched my sofa terribly which is leather, I need a new sofa and I'm not sure what material to go for.

I prefer leather as it's easy to wipe clean, also I am allergic to cats and my cat sheds alot of hair I feel like a fabric sofa will collect the cat hair more than leather.

However I am worried my cat will scratch the new sofa once I get it and ruin it.

Anyone found a good sofa which is not easily destroyed by cats?

My two shredded my fabric sofa. Until
About 18 months ago, my leather one wasn't touched. Now Magic will look me in the eye and scratch it, in preparation to jumping on it. Little bugger.

Oh dear, it's just so difficult with furniture and cats isn't it.

My current sofa I have had for about 13 years and was very expensive at the time, if I am buying a new one I am prepared to pay decent money for it, but the thought of it getting ruined so quickly makes me not want to buy one.

Nice things & cats don’t mix.

Ikea Nockeby. Then put the anti-scratch tape on the areas where your cat will scratch as soon as you get it. Leave for a few months and your cat will have broken the habit.
Nockeby is brilliant as the covers wash perfectly. I did mine every two months. My cats did scratch it a tiny bit initially and you couldn't see it because of the textured material. Wonderfully comfy and very sturdy.
I actually dyed my covers a gorgeous olive green with fabric dye. They still wash perfectly.

The Nockeby fabric looks the same like the one used on the Strandmon armchair. I’ve had it for a couple of years now and my cat scratches it regularly but you can’t see it.

We have an ancient Ikea Erktop (pre-dates the cats by many years)
It is starting to go really baggy but I'm reluctant to replace it because they'll occasionally have a swipe .

I won't have leather though (by choice) so unless I buy some plastic chairs I;m stuck !
