Cats and artificial grass

We are acquiring a cat (long story) problem is we have artificial grass, we don't like it but it was installed by previous owners and no landscape gardeners wanted to remove it when I got quotes (this year). Will cat he ok with it, will they chew it? There's some bare earth for the tree and flowers for toiletting- how do I encourage it to use that spot. Sorry never had a cat, don't really want one but for outing reasons we haven't got the heart to say no, only hopefully for a year or so until cats owner has suitable property. Also what is the decent food? I have had dogs and use dry food, heard cats hate it

Give the cat whatever food they were already eating. Mine have wet and dry food. You will need to keep the cat in for a few weeks so you'll need a litter tray.
