Kittens and essential oil diffuser

We have two little kittens and I remember reading essential oils could be dangerous for cats.

I used to burn essential oils (lemon, orange and lime) in a diffuser, but are these ok ?

Also as we can't keep doors open at the moment, are there any fresh / nice smelling essential oils we can use around the house ?

Most essential oils are toxic to cats, their pretty toxic generally because of the turpinols.

Reed diffusers are bad too. If you get flat cat window screens you can open the windows.

I had just bought an oil diffuser before we got kittens. I read lots of stuff online and decided that it really wasn't safe to use around cats. Sad but I didn't want to risk harm to them. I've also locked the essential oils away as they are pretty toxic.
