Kitten weaning

I have a litter of 3 kittens, they are three weeks old tomorrow.
Can someone give me any information on how and when to start weaning them from mum cat milk to food?
I have worked them at 2 weeks, is there anything else I need to do?
When do I need to put a litter tray down for them?
Thanks in advance!

Probably closer to four weeks when they start eating meat. I just fed my cat good quality kitten food and they nibbled at it too, gradually switching over. I used Royal Canin Mother and Babycat

It won't hurt to have a litter tray available to them but make sure you use non clumping litter.

Stick Hannah Shaw kitten Lady into Google. Don’t be put off that she is referred to as an “internet celebrity” she’s been doing kitten care for ages and she is an amazing resource. She’ll have advice on introducing solids somewhere.

Good luck with the baby cats. Isn’t a photo of said kittens a prerequisite of posting though?

Please could I ask why you suggested non clumping litter? It's been over 20 years since we had new kittens but new ones are on the horizon so I'm getting my head round everything. Someone told me today "make sure you get clumping cat litter" so now I'm confused which is best and why. Thank you

Kittens may eat clumping litter and then it can clump in their tummy so best not to use it while they are still tiny

Kittens like to taste things and clumping litter can block their guts. It's fine when they're older but not ideal for the teeny ones.

Sorry I have no useful advice but read your title as Kitten Wearing. Clicked on it looking for cute pictures of kittens in slings! Smile
