My cat is soooo bored....

My cat won't stop coming and meowing at me. She wants me to play.....constantly....
I need to work. How can I entertain her?
I've fed her, opened the door for her, taken some toys in the garden, thrown her toys for her, shown her where her sister is sleeping so she can wake her up to play....

She has toys, space, a house to run in, trees to climb, insects to chase.....

What next? How do you keep a needy cat entertained?

My cat is soooo bored....

Are you sure she doesn't just want a nice, big cuddle? One of mine is a meower and, if it's not about food (it usually is), it's because he wants me to pick him up for a big cuddle (he's very independent, so this surprised me to learn that he still needs a big blast of affection!).
Try a good snuggle and see if that satisfies her. Mine usually goes on a nice wander once he's gotten his snuggle.
She's absolutely gorgeous, by the way.

I have never before seen such an unusually coloured cat before.

Absolutely gorgeous!

😻

Mumdiva99 · 07/06/2021 12:32

Thanks guys - we obviously think she gorgeous. (My little tiger)

I have tried cuddles - she jumps downs and finds toys. The irony being she will be tired soon and then her sister will get up and want to play......

How old is she? If she’s an adolescent she probably needs extra play time. It’s good to get a few good runs out of them. My girl runs the length of the garden, through the house then back down the garden. She actually likes to be chased gently.

Mumdiva99 · 07/06/2021 13:54

She's 11 months old. Usually she would run around the garden chasing fly's etc A neighbour is having an extension and it is quite loud out there so maybe that is upsetting her. But really she has been getting more and more like this before half term and before the builders. Or it could just be boredom that the kids are back at school....

Play him some TV if you search tv for cats on YouTube there is loads. Mine loves the fishtanks one.

Mumdiva99 · 07/06/2021 14:29

Oh no - I have enough trouble getting my kids off the screens without getting my cats hooked too!!

This is when I do flea drops or worming and mine buggers off and sulks. Grin

YesItsMeIDontCare · 07/06/2021 14:42

Oh god yes - Paul Dinning or Handsome Nature on YouTube. Leroy prefers Handsome Nature because he bloody loves the chipmunks!

Or get a Frolicat Laser toy. Turn it on and watch them go 😁.

TheLongRider · 07/06/2021 15:39

One of mine, Hobbes the tabby, is bored out of his stripes too. He doesn't want to play with his mates, definitely doesn't want cuddles, doesn't want to be outside, doesn't want to be inside. He's always on the wrong side of every door. It's like a toddler tantrum all day.

MrsBongiovi · 07/06/2021 15:46

She is beautiful. 😍 You can always send her to me. I’m off work this week so could entertain her for you. You probably wouldn’t get her back Grin

Beautiful girl! I am a mug who usually gives in. I had been working on the sofa with laptop in one hand and cat on lap instead of at my desk just so I can have some peace. But recently I put a kitchen chair close to my desk chair, covered it with the throw I usually use so it has my scent on it and my cat has settled right in for extended periods. I also give her 15-20 minute play sessions every couple of hours and that seems to work. Good luck with your gorgeous girl.

Mumdiva99 · 07/06/2021 16:14

I'd be more than happy if she settled on my lap or near me. Well as predicted she went to sleep and her sister woke up and is playing in the garden......why can't they synchronise?

(I think lack of cat friends might be part of the problem - there was no one out to run from/chase/guard against/watch.....)

Teen years are always hard. Zooplus do interactive toys for them.

Variety is key, they get bored of the same toys so you have to rotate them like you would for a toddler.

Basically the answer is the same as it is for all cat problems, you have to empty your bank account.

She is a little stunner though.

Mumdiva99 · 07/06/2021 21:44

OK....off to chose a frolicat laser toy.....
(And to look in the bag of cat toys I put away for a rainy day....)

OMG she gorgeous!!! Send her to me x

whattodo2019 · 07/06/2021 21:53

Buy her a goldfish?

Mumdiva99 · 08/06/2021 07:00

@whattodo2019 next door have a pond....I worry about them falling in! But they also have a barking running dog....so whilst mine pop in the garden to torment the dog I don't think they spend long there. Although they have enjoyed torturing frogs that have mistakenly ventured into our garden. Shock
