cat wars

So the neighbourhood cat bully has been coming into my garden two or three times a day to attack my cat, (he has also attacked other neighbours cats) if my cat is inside he will attack through the glass doors, my cat has had some nasty injuries in the past and I can't keep my cat inside as he would be distressed and tear up the sofa.

Last night they were fighting and I could see my cat had an eye injury so i intervened by squirting water at them to separate them, my cat ran and hid and the other cat walked off, and then turned around and came back and attacked me - scratches not bites but still bleeding in eight places and unpleasant. I'm now worried he will go for my children in our garden - is there anything i can do to prevent him coming in? and yes - i know i shouldn't have intervened in a cat fight but i couldn't just stand and watch my cat get even more injured.

Sorry I have no advice. But I would have done the same and intervened too. Hopefully someone more experienced will be along soon to advise you.

Ring cat protection

You could try cats protection or Rspca if it's a stray.

Animals who are aggressive to humans should not be roaming around. Is your cat okay?

His eye has improved today thanks, and its not a stray its a long haired pedigree cat belonging to someone in the next road.

The only thing you can really do is to cat-proof your garden so that you stop the intruder coming in,, but I appreciate that's not cheap.

I think you did the right thing with the water gun, by the way. It was just bad luck that this cat decided to fight back!

I guess the only thing you can do in that case is make sure you have a broom handy next time. If you also add a few drops of essential oil to your supersoaker (something strong smelling) I guarantee it won't like that either. Whenever you see it on your garden drench it whether it's attacking anyone or not.

You could video the attacks and start taking the vets bills round to the owner!
