Omg just look at these. My friend unexpectedly adopted a maincoone kitten as an emergency from a rescue. Look at these ridiculous paws!!

Oooh! I love playing with my cats' toes (when they'll let me). Extra toes - extra fun!

Branleuse · 31/05/2021 15:09

oh man, I so want a cat with thumbs.

FelicityBeedle · 31/05/2021 15:10

Super cute kitty and I hate to be the downer but.... It's usually a sign of inbreeding and suggests the kitty hasn't come from a reputable breeder. Whilst polydactyly isn't a problem in and of itself, it means that the cat may be predisposed to other hereditary problems. In a maine coon I'd want a cardiac check up

@Veterinari he's a rescue...

That doesn't safeguard him from the consequences of inbreeding or his new wonder from dealing with a potentially difficult condition

He still needs to be checked

@Veterinari I know. My two Rescue Persians were breeding queens in a kitten farm. One died at 8 from HCM.

The cats at Ernest Hemmingway's house (Florida Keys) all had extra toes . There were dozens of them loitering about and a massive waiting list to buy a kitten.

He might be a great(x10000) grandkitten of one of them?

So cute , I;m loving his eyes and ears.

CatChant · 07/06/2021 09:36

Ohhh! That brings back happy memories. We had two dearly-loved polydactyl moggy sisters. They were both tortoiseshell and one was sleek, and the other fluffy like this handsome fellow.

They were delights all their lives and we were obviously lucky because they never had a day's ill-health until they were well into old age.

Normal cats paws still look absurdly small to me
