It is our kitten's pre-neuter check today. The cat carrier came out for the first time since he came to us 4 months ago and he walked straight in and sat down.

Closed it quickly before he changed his mind - but seeing his face when he got put in the car I felt so bad.

He's never going to go in the thing again is he?

now I am sitting, waiting, feeling bad as my DH is taking him in.

Will I ever be forgiven?

Aww, poor kitten, but it's a necessary thing. I applied worm and flea drops to mum's cat recently (in the same week I'd taken him to the vets for his jab - he was hissing at Mr in the car!), he wouldn't come near me for about an hour (he's such a wimp, my girls weren't bothered at all) but he's forgotten all about it now. I leave my cat carrier accessible to the cats, tucked out of my way and with the door open so they are used to it. Lots of treats when they are shut in it.

We all feel terrible when this happens, but seeing them set free when we get home is such a buzz, as they're so relieved to be there Smile

Oh, poor you and poor kitten. He'll forgive you.

He'll forget about it as soon as he gets home.

It's a good idea to leave your carrier out for a few days before it's needed so your cat gets used to it being around. I learned this the hard way when one of my cats got to recognise the sound of the carrier being taken out of the utility room and would disappear as soon as we touched the thing.

If you put a couple of treats in the carrier, it can help them feel more positive about it.

Well, he's back and I had treats ready to pop in the carrier when we opened it up. I think i might leave it out until next week, maybe with treats in every now and again so doesnt have too many negative connotations.

Seems happy enough
