New kitten advice

We recently lost our beloved 5 year old girl unexpectedly and now have her brother as our only cat.

I think I’d like to get a new kitten, and would ideally wait but I’ve seen mixed opinions as to whether waiting is a good idea, or getting a new kitten straightaway so our current cat doesn’t get too used to being an ‘only’.

Advice appreciated!

We waited 6 months as I really didn't want another dkitten. Dcat was becoming super stressed.. I caved.. Within 2 weeks they were totally bonded... No regrets. Except should have done it sooner.. Dcat is male and dkitten is female. All the chosen rescue place had.
