Rag doll kitten price

We are in the process of adopting a kitten. I've contacted breeders and am on their waiting list. Am also looking at private sellers. What is a realistic price I can expect to pay please?

Private sellers are asking for 1000 quid but many of them don't have pedigree papers not even for their parents. But the whole family can be viewed and they all LOOK proper rag dolls!!

I'm not fussed about pedigree lines and am happy with a cross. But what price should I be realistically aiming for?

Help please MN cat parents!

Thank you @Gubanc very useful. Yes the breeder has listed all this except for the contract. Need to ask about this.

Sorry if this sounds a silly question. Do I pay the full amount aftwr I've brought kitten home?

You usually leave a deposit and pay the remainder when the kitten comes home (13wks).

@Gubanc

Kitten needs to be registered (please make sure they don't have you over this), vaccinated, microchipped and tested for breed specific illnesses.

This.

Plus any decent breeder will not be advertising kittens on an Internet forum. Going via the relevant GCCF breed club is your best route to finding a healthy kitten and an ethical breeder. That will most likely mean waiting for a kitten, but surely that is better than inadvertently supporting a kitten farm or setting yourself up for heartbreak.

Beware that Ragdolls are predisposed to cardiomyopathy and you want to ensure the breeding lines have been DNA tested.

I do advertise on an online website. I still think I'm decent. 😉

Most pedigree cat clubs recommend a kitten price on their web page.

For Somalis it's up to £700 I think, MC similar.

Over £1k still seems ridiculous!

I have allergies and next time I'm consider Devon or Cornish Rex rehomer - finally less fluff. Absolutely must be indoor cats though.
