Escaping Cat Proofed Garden

I’m just about to pay a deposit for cat proofing our garden. I’m nervous as DC is 14 months and is a very athletic Siamese. Has anyone done this and it worked out brilliantly or did their cat escape despite cat proofing?

@TheSaucepanMan I would be very interested to share enrichment ideas as I have held off planting and adding to the garden until the work was completed.

If you fancy starting a thread give me a wave.

So far I've bought some cat pods (in the picture) that I'll drill a few holes in the bottom the plant cat grass to allow them shade and a comfy place to snooze or they can chew the grass. Some different sized logs to hide behind and scratch, I'm planting things like cat mint, valerian, German chamomile, marigold some plants that freak people out screaming 'toxic' but as I practice zoopharmacognosy (animal self selection) I'm not put off!

We've made a cat litter area with top soil which we find doesn't smell and is easier to take care of, we tried sand but when it rained it wasn't great. Putting plants around if for some privacy. We have indoor litter trays too.

I'm trying to make it interesting while keeping it looking nice!

Wow! Sounds great. I’ve never heard of zoopharmacognosy will be giving that a google. DC ignores the cat mint. He has chosen a litter area already and it’s furthest away from both patio areas so I’m very happy with that! Good idea to plant in front of it. I’m going to train some roses up the tree protection posts but was thinking of cosmos for in between the rocks.

I love that area and cosmos is so pretty!
