How can I stop DCat licking his wound on his tail?

We moved house recently and unfortunately there is a large territorial cat living a few doors away who has taken a dislike to our DCat. They have had a couple of spats, one of which resulted in DCat getting an abcess on his tail and becoming quite poorly with it. He was treated by the vet and is thankfully back to his normal self but the wound on his tail does not seem to be healing. This is mainly because he keeps licking it which seems to be stopping it scabbing over.

Is there anything we can do? What would be best and how long might it take to heal? Thank you.

Ask the vet for a cone of shame.

Or maybe one of the new style grippy plastic bandages would stay on his tail - my cat can't pick them off his front leg and it really does help healing.

Cone of shame.

Sudocreme and a bandage were the only thing that helped when my cat had a tail wound.
