Settling a new kitten?

We're picking up our new kitten tomorrow! We've had cats before, but always rufty tufty strays who've just chosen to stay with us. We haven't had cats since we moved to Australia, and having recently bought a house we're now in a position to get a cat.
We're getting a Maine Coon kitten tomorrow, so I'm trying to work out how to help her settle in best. She'll be an indoor cat, and an only cat for now. Our house is quite open plan so we're putting her in the kitchen / diner area to start with (plan will be attached when I can!). Her cat tree, bed and food are in the "family" area on the plan, her litter tray will move from the dining area to the laundry area (far left) once she's settled and has the run of the house.
Do we need to do anything to help her settle? Should we sleep in with her for a few nights on the sofa?
All help gratefully received! (And I'll attach a photo of our new girl when I can work out how... Eeeeek! Exciting!!)
