Getting a cat for the first time in years. What do we need?

We will be getting a rescue cat next week and I've not had cats for a long time now. She's 9 months old.
What things do we need to buy? I'm sure there are things I've not thought of.
I'm getting a start up kit from the rescue that contains the basics but what else would you recommend?
And also what is a waste of money?
From memory cats sleep anywhere so do we need a cat bed?

Mine treat their expensive cat bed like a swamp of quicksand infested with crocodiles & venomous snakes.

However they do adore their giant 5 foot cat tree with scratching posts & box "rooms". Best toys are feathers on a fishing pole and a laser pen, and catnip mice/yeowww banana.

A wide variety of cat food, it may have eaten whatever it was given at the rescue but it won’t with you.

Definitely this! I was assured my lad ate anything. Hmm

An igloo style cat bed could be a good idea as it's a warm dark safe space if he's a bit nervous.

I'd also advise Feliway and Catnip.

Not much.
Bowls for feeding, and if you plan on keeping it in, something to poop in.

Cat trees are good but not necessary.

A cardboard box. A handful of tinfoil rolled into a nice round ball. That should do it...

Cat bed🤣 you can try... it will sleep in a shopping bag, discarded box (used box), hat, pile of laundry, newspaper (particularly if you are reading it at the time), under the sofa (so you spend hours looking for it), top of the fridge or wardrobe, in the linen cupboard, in the fridge, in the bath....

I guess you need a litter box, food/drink bowls and a mat to put them on, few ping pong balls to bat around...

Yep! An outlay of £5 should see you sorted. Good luck with your new “line manager”. May we have pictures when she is settled in??

Thanks all. That's what I thought about beds. Will restrain myself from getting sucked into buying lots of expensive things then.
Will definitely post pics when she's here.
