We have a couple of ideas. We all had our minds set on a name til we went and collected her then DCs decided she was an "Eclipse", we've all agreed the original name doesn't suit. A few weeks on DCs still aren't too sure on Eclipse and have been trying to think other names. I've just been calling her Kit (short for kitten) the whole time and now DCs are quite keen on Kit but not 100% sure, Juno was brought up this morning which were quite fond of, so atm it's between Juno and Kit. What do you guys reckon or any other name suggestions? I don't like common pet names, our Ddog has a different-ish name so would prefer the same for Kit(ten).

We have a similar coloured cat who we named Alice - our daughter was reading Alice in Wonderland when we got her and it seemed to be a good suggestion or better than several others; DH wanted to call her Blackers!

Other suggestions were around characters from books they were reading. We also looked at names from famous people who had birthdays around when she was born/ the day we got her.

(I know this may not be helpful if you are going down the non human names route but our other cats have real people's names so it all fitted in - I'm always conscious about being overheard saying the name out loud to call the cats in the evening or when introducing them to people/the vet so we have tended to go for proper names.)

If you're calling her Kit then it sounds like that's her name.

I know how you feel though. We got a new kitten 6 months ago. And still not convinced she's called the right name.

But none of us can think of a better one and mainly we call her "the baby" or "baby" as that is what she is.

It's not really like the cats care anyway. And all our pets end up with about 20 nicknames anyway. Grin
