Poorly Leo

Hi All,

I am just after a little bit of advice.

Leo has been out of sorts since yesterday. His stools have been runny, he didn't eat anything yesterday morning and then managed a pouch and a half at tea time and a bit later on. Drinking was fine yesterday.

This morning he wouldn't even look at his food, had a particularly bad poop and we took him to the vet this morning.

They gave him an anti sickness injection and told my husband his temperature was normal and perfect and she couldnt feel anything in his tummy so it must be a tummy bug.

She sent him home with a couple of sachets of fortiflora and said to try him with food after 11am.

He isn't interested in any type of food, he has had a couple of drinks of water out of his fountain and is just lay on the sofa looking mopey and fed up.

Any ideas on anything I can entice him with to encourage him to nibble? Or should I just leave him to it and try again later?

Thanks in advance
x

Poor Leo. I'd leave him too it and try again later. He's drinking do that's a good sign.

Will he eat chicken or fish? Or you could try scrambled egg.

samlh · 08/04/2021 14:29

I've cooked some chicken and he's not entertained it. I'm not sure if it's the fortiflora stuff, it smells like gravy to me and i'm sure cats are meant to love it, but he's just like "errr no"

Might try scrambled egg later, he usually loves a little bit as a treat.

This is the first time we've had to have him to the vet and i'm just beside myself because I hate seeing him poorly. I feel like such a bad cat mum!

Plus the nearly 30 week pregnancy hormones aren't helping me.

Chicken livers lightly poached and chopped?. If you have any catnip you can sprinkle it on food.

Mine had the anti sickness injection a few times and it’s a 24hr thing to work.

Try lik e lix or soup. I knew Magic was really ill
When she refused them. Hope the gorgeous boy is better soon.

Can we have a picture of the gorgeous creature as a focus for our healing thoughts?!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/04/2021 08:08

Is he perking up today?.

samlh · 09/04/2021 08:58

Well after having some scrambled egg later on last night and feeling generally sorry for himself, he woke me up at 6:30am by sitting on my head and singing the song of his people. He devoured his breakfast and is now zooming round the middle room and jumping all over my keyboard.

Here is one I took about 15 mins ago, he commandeered the wicker basket I received from work as a present for Easter. :D

😺

Told you it was a 24hr thing.

Honestly, you wouldn't think he thought he was at deaths door less than 24 hours ago! He's currently trying to climb up my maiden of wet washing to get to the socks at the top :D

His face, I’m a little bit in love with him. 😍

Glad he’s feeling better OP.

SheldonesqueIsAlmostHuman · 09/04/2021 11:27

The face on that 😍

Glad he is feeling perkier!

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/04/2021 12:09

It’s a common tactic. “Dying, definitely dying, good bye cruel world! Oh if only you’d fed me more dreamies all this could have been avoided!”.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/04/2021 14:32

That's such a relief. Omg he is possibly one of the cutest cats ever. I love him. He needs to come and live with me. Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 09/04/2021 14:33

He sits in baskets and clubs on the washing. Are you sure he's a Persian? He could come and teach my pair how to cat!
