Cat ate some chocolate

1 year old tabby cat got in to the biscuit box, pulled one out, uncovered the foil and had the top layer of a biscuit, so basically the top layer was chocolate. Caught him before he got to more.

I've googled but getting different things online. He must have only managed to eat a few grams worth if that. It was a thin layer and some of it was still on the floor.

Should I contact the emergency vet? I'm trying to not freak myself out but I am watching him and he seems to be ok at the mo.

My cat once ate half a Mars bar. Little swine also drank/ate an entire jug of Yorkshire Pudding batter. No problems and right as rain 🙂

I think it's difficult to assess cats in the same way as dogs, but assuming your cat is about 4kg, then up to 30g of milk chocolate comes up as 'no symptoms' for a dog, so one milk chocolate biscuit covering is not too bad.

My Kids have been feeding tidbits of chocolate to one of the cats for years. I think the kids know not to do it now.

I had a cockateil that enjoyed drinking my breakfast cereal milk. Amazing what they can get away with that is supposed to be terrible.

Thanks everyone. Seems to be ok, has been running about playing and now snoozing away. Will keep an eye on him overnight.

I know he didn't have much chocolate but some google searches terrified me!

Human/animal Google search’s are always, always a mistake...but I still do it 😀

One XMas I was at my sister's house for the day. After dinner went into the kitchen to get the home made chocolate log which was smothered in (very rich) chocolate buttercream only to find her cat had licked almost the entire end clean of buttercream. - had to cut that end off. Cat was absolutely fine, & didn't even vomit.
