Very excited to be bringing home our new kitten tomorrow. Any tips or advice as to what we should or shouldn't do with him?

Also any name suggestions would be appreciated, we can't agree on anything! He's mainly black with white feet and a white chest 😊

Congratulations.
Have you had a kitten before?
I'd suggest keeping it secure in one room with bed, food, litter etc and give them at least 24 hours to get used to the difference noises, smells, etc.
Keep on the same food and litters they've been on so far.
Stock up on things to amuse them with. Mine have liked cardboard boxes, tunnels, rustly paper, catnip mice. Offer different toys daily (and put some away). Cats love variety and novelty.

Thank you Smile
Yes, we got kittens about 8 years ago. We kept them in the kitchen for a few days. But we've moved house since and it's more open plan. And as he's by himself feel mean keeping him alone locked in a room especially over night. I was thinking of keeping him in our bedroom, we've got an en-suite for the litter tray and can keep an eye on him over night, but is that over kill?!
Have lots of toys so will gradually introduce them to him. And have already bought the same food

Very cute. Looks a lot like one of mine as a kitten! Is he semi longhaired? I think he might be. Coat looks quite fluffy.
If you're happy with having him in your room he might like the company but he will probably keep you awake Grin Ready for the singing at 4am?

Chemenger · 26/03/2021 17:07

I had a foster kitten who looked exactly like that, his name was Lola (small error on his first trip to the vet!), his brother was Charlie. When they were adopted they were named by small children and Lola became ....Sparkles. Charlie's new name was equally inappropriate, might have been something like Fluffy.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 26/03/2021 17:21

Oh he is lush! Yep id go for your bedroom then, makes sense. And just spend loads of time with him in there. Bring him downstairs for short bursts each day under close supervision.

Names wise, what about Cosmo?

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 26/03/2021 17:24

Oh he's really, really sweet.

How about Soot?

I'd keep him on me 🤣

Toddlerteaplease · 26/03/2021 20:52

Omg those magnificent whiskers!

Mind you the obvious name for him has to be Whiskers.

littlewhitestar · 27/03/2021 16:22

He looks like he's wearing a tail coat or tuxedo and spats.

Maybe Fred (Astaire) or Frank (Sinatra)?

TheLongRider · 27/03/2021 16:46

Augustus (Gus or Gussie for when he's being cute)

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/03/2021 18:51

I’m giving those whiskers 10/10! He looks a determined soul though.

nocoolnamesleft · 27/03/2021 22:01

I think he might be quite cute. But it's hard to tell without more pictures. Lots more pictures.

Furries · 28/03/2021 04:40

Cuteness overload! Those whiskers obviously harbour super powers, think I’d have to call him Merlin.

Whatever you decide, please let us know. More importantly, please post lots more photos!

Yoda you should call him

Thank you everyone! We've gone for Freddie and he's a little cutie 💙
We have all fallen totally in love with him and he has settled in really well. He sleeps a lot, plays a lot and follows us round everywhere!

Oh he's a sweet pea. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/04/2021 00:00

Does he walk round full of his own importance with his little tail sticking upGrin. I love the way kittens do that.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/04/2021 08:17

He’s going to be a little force of nature. Mark my words. Freddie’s an excellent name.

Furries · 01/04/2021 09:55

Adorable! I see how his mind control powers have already started, won’t be too long until you’re completely under his spell.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/04/2021 20:37

Mind control 😹 “you will wrap me in fleece so I look adorable”
