Cats are weird

Just wondered if anyone had ever come across this or had any thoughts on this. It's not a problem really, just odd.

Every morning my cat goes out to the garden, digs a hole, poos, neatly covers it then comes straight in and wees in the litter tray.

I've had him about 4 months and he is a rescue with a fairly unknown history but before he went out doing all his business in the tray was no problem.

If that's his preference I can live with it, just curious

No experience of this but it made me laugh out loud. Cats really are weird. Love them.

One of mine spend most of his day outside, but always comes in to use the litter tray. There's just no understanding themGrin

My dcat is 16 this year, caught her this morning drinking out the toilet in the downstairs loo, back paws on rim, front paws in the bowl Envyand yes she does have a perfectly lovely bowl with fresh water in it accessible at all times Hmm

Ours preferred to poo outside given the choice.

My three have three litter trays and only poo in one, they will pee in the other two but one is the poo one, same one all the time. Can’t be the smell as I don’t put them back correctly must be location.

One also drinks out the downstairs toilet tap as she knows it’s a bit dodgy, other two drink out the dogs bowl despite having the our own water bowl.

Mine poos in his tray and if it's a good shape and it's firm he doesn't cover it up. It's like a badge of honour on display Confused

Thanks for all the confirmations that some cats just have strange toilet habits.

Mine poos and pees outside, but she pees over the drain in the road as do a couple of other local cats.

I did have a cat who taught herself to use the toilet, she never got the hang of flushing though.
