Missing Cat

hi everyone

Just looking for some reassurance more than anything really please. We last saw our cat on Wednesday morning, she is not one to wander at all she is very bonded to us and stays very near to the house when she does go out. We've left her bedding in the garden, spoke to neighbours, leaflets through doors, posters etc, lost ads and social media. We live on a very quiet road, there is a bit of a busier road behind us next to a park but I feel if she was hit by a car then its a busy area someone would have seen her / picked her up - she's chipped. I looked all around the bushes hedges in that area on the day and many times since and nothing. I've been pinning on to the hope she's locked in a shed but its cold at the moment so its not like people are in and out of their gardens opening up sheds etc. One neighbour did call to say they'd seen her on weds afternoon in their garden which has given me hope but who knows if that's even accurate. We felt she was missing before that as she hadn't been home since the morning.

Has anyone heard of the pet detective? Is it even worth giving this a go - they're only doing an online package at the moment so I cant see how much it would help but if anyone has heard of it and thinks its worth a shot then I will definitley do it

I just don't understand how a cat can vanish into thin air. I cant bear the thought of her being out their stuck or injured on her own. Please can anyone offer any reassurance please because I feel utterly miserable and don't know what to do. Thanks

It's so hard when they do a disappearing act. It's not unusual for them to do this and then wander back in as if nothing's happened. I don't know anything about pet detectives. Someone might have taken her in, thinking that she's lost? Would your vet and other local vets let you put up a poster? Fingers crossed she'll be back soonFlowers

Have you gone out late at night when its quite to see if you can call them and hear them if they are stuck somewhere.

Have you tried one of the lost pets sites? Here's one.

Thanks everyone I've walked around here so many times, morning afternoon and night and posted on various Facebook pages / websites. I just don't understand how a cat can vanish into thin air. I don't think ill be able to cope not knowing it she doesn't come back

Mine went missing for 3-4 days. She appeared an hour or two after I put posters up. She was very hungry and disheveled. I am convinced she was in a shed somewhere and the posters prompted someone to look. When looking for her I heard so many stories of cats returning. 2 weeks, 5 weeks and one said 18 months!!

Mine went missing for several weeks. Came back very thin and weak.

Have you popped leaflets in every house across all the roads near you? Many people only do the roads closest, but if she’s been chased outside her usual zone, she maybe further away and confused. Also make sure it’s every house, and not every other.

When we were looking for a missing recently adopted cat, we put leaflets through 500 houses, and kitty was eventually found right on the outskirts of where we leafleted, having got herself lost.

Fingers crossed you have her home soon.
